Sneak Peek: kitchen renovation

We have had our farm for over a year now and the renovations have been ongoing...
first a new deck, new windows and doors, a wood burning stove and then we gutted the kitchen.

before
We had stairs to the basement right in the middle of the kitchen and that was the first thing to go...

This is the other side of the kitchen with flooring removed and wood stove already in place. The stairs to the basement are now gone and a garden door replaces an old window.

New ceiling and flooring...all installed by my husband when we are up there for the weekend (it all took a long time to install and there were some bumps along the road...I will save that story for another time)

Here is the SNEAK PEEK...

Induction cook-top and pot drawers

Garbage & Recycling

Two pendants over the Island and did I mention I got a double oven...
The kitchen still needs a backsplash and some wood trim, open shelving needs to be installed and the whole house needs to be painted...then I can have a REAL reveal.

I am presently trying to decide if I should paint the bar chairs a pop of colour or leave them white...
There are lots of opinions by my followers back on my FACEBOOK page....
feel free to leave a comment.

Doily Lanterns

I made three doily lanterns back in December, just in time for Christmas but I never got around to sharing them with you.
This weekend during Earth Hour they were the first thing I lit.

These were super easy to make...that's ME...needs to be EASY!

All you need are some empty pasta sauce jars (any other jars will do), Mod Podge and some small doilies.

Brush some Mod Podge on the jar,
add the doily, brush more Mod podge over the doily and let dry.

They sit on my window sill and every night I light a tea-light in them. I have added some twine to the top and an extra embellishment at Christmas...

The pine cone and faux pine has been removed but the twine remains. It is pretty easy to add other embellishments depending on the season or mood I am in...
